Psychic Pain: An energy which lost its way.
Where is the psychic pain generated
from?
There
was a king named X ruling a kingdom. The kingdom was prosperous and all the
people of the kingdom were happy. There was no specific army to protect the
kingdom. However, whenever the kingdom was invaded all the people joined
together and formed a people’s army to fight the enemies. The army of the
kingdom was self sufficient in which each soldier earned his own livelihood in
the war free time.
There
was another king Y ruling the neighbouring kingdom. He wanted to invade the
kingdom ruled by X. He maintained a paid army waiting for a right time for
invasion. A newly appointed minister by King Y noticed two unique advantages
in the opponent King X army. 1)The army was self-sufficient and never got
paid by the King (Unlike King Y 's army which caused lot of financial burden on
kingdom). 2) The people’s army was very large when compared to paid army and it
used to work cohesively.
The
King Y executed a plan given by his minister as a part of his invasion
strategy. He sent 100 undercover agents into the enemy’s population. None of
these agents had weapons. The duty of each agent was to ask only one question
daily to 10 different persons of King X ’s kingdom. The question was “You are
serving this Kingdom for so long, what did you receive in reward or return till
now?”. Many citizens of the country faced this question from different agents
in different occasions. Slowly the people started questioning themselves and
questioning each other the same question. Few months passed. A part of the
population started believing they had been exploited all these years. This
group of people felt like not working for their army. There was a mutiny in the people’s army. The
revolting army declared war against the King X and his people’s army.
The pain is an energy in
mutiny. Pain is a part of our own energy . The energy runs each and every
vital organs of our body, our mind, our thoughts, emotions. A part of this
energy changes its course and goes misaligned with the rest of the energy. This
is nothing but a psychic pain.
How is the psychic pain generated?
When the question was posed repeatedly to the King X soldiers by the enemy agents, an old value of the people’s army, “work to
contribute to the country” was replaced by a new value, “work for the returns
or rewards”. With the change in the values, the identity of this group has
changed from “contributor to the country” to the “consumer in the country”.
This change in identity caused change in the perceptions, evaluations,
expectations and actions. A part of the people’s army separated to form a rebellion.
The people’s army and the rebellion army have everything in common except the
identities which they were serving. The identity as a national (people's army) is much larger and powerful than an individual (rebellion army) . The individual self is always concerned about its
survival. The threat to the survival is coupled with pain. When the identity of
the person shifts towards the nationalism, the importance of the self comes down.
When the self is lost, fear and pain are lost.
How to deal with the psychic pain?
It is important to know what we should not do to the
pain than what we should do to it.
When
the King X found that there was mutiny in the army. He wanted to suppress the
mutiny by overpowering it. A wise minister told “If we want to over power the
rebellion we need equal number of soldiers to be recruited against the
rebellion. A fraction of our men should be fielded against another fraction of our
men. Whoever wins, in both the case we will be the losers.” Then The king X executed few steps as advised by his minister. He caught hold of all the enemy agents
and jailed them. He sent a message to the rebellion group, that their every
wish will be fulfilled in a span of 3 months. The revolt softened down. The
King X sent a team of 100 agents under cover whose duty is to remind the
revolting soldiers daily about the invaluable contributions they made for the country
and invisible rewards the country has given them like peace, harmony, brother
hood. The agents repeated a question daily “Don’t we have enough? Do we
really need surplus? In a span of three months all the soldiers faced this
question several times. Gradually they felt that they already had enough. They rejoined
the people’s army.
Pain is nothing but a fragment of energy revolting
against us. Suppressing or fighting against pain is like our energy fighting
against our energy. If we fight it becomes more strong .We will lose energy from both the fronts. Inspite of
fighting the pain, just acknowledge its presence and give it some time to
settle.
When the enemy agents questioned the soldiers repeatedly,
the feel of lacking something started in the soldiers. When the soldiers posed
the same question to themselves, that feel got established itself as a pain and
found its own reasons. The uniqueness of
the pain body is that it starts with one reason. Once it establishes, it finds
new reasons to establish itself more. Each reason for the pain is like a root
for a tree. The root cannot survive without a tree and tree cannot survive
without the root. Separating the “feel of pain” from its “reasons” can break
the vicious cycle of the pain- reason loop. In the other words whenever we have pain we should just focus on the feel of pain not on the reason for the
pain. Gradually the pain dies out when it is cut off from its roots.
We find rich people sitting safely in the middle of
the country complaining and questioning about what the country gave them. At the same
time thousands of the soldiers on the border die quietly saluting the national
flag without any complains. What is the reason? The reason is we are surrounded
by hundreds of enemy agents which establish pain – reason loop. Ads, media,
people around us, their life styles make us believe that we will be more happy
and complete if we get something more. They play the role of enemy agents who reinforce
the Pain – reason loop.
Reinforcing our incompleteness daily may motivate us
to fulfil the goals, however it may also establish a pain – reason loop. Pain
has power in it. A controlled pain helps us in the run, an uncontrolled one
will make us burn.
Yogic science says the deeper truth is that “we are
already and always complete”. The superficial truth is “fulfilling a desire makes
us complete.” Pain- reason loop reinforces our incompleteness. It won’t let us
look towards the deeper truth. Meditation and deep introspection can only make
us experience our completeness. Completeness and pain never coexist. Pain is an
energy which lost its way. If we show it the light of awareness, it corrects
back its way to become a part of our energy.
