The Cockpit of the mind

Most of us might have boarded a flight. The place from where the pilot operates the aircraft is called as the Cockpit. Sitting in the cockpit the pilot can operate and control every part of the plane. If the pilot loses the control of the cockpit the plane will crash. The small cockpit is the most crucial area of the huge aircraft. There were various methods by which the flights were hijacked or crashed in the past due to the entry of unwanted people into the cockpit. If this happens the flying capability of the pilot cannot save the plane. Type 1 Hijack :  The hijacker can comfortably access the unlocked cockpit as in 9/11 attacks.  This is due unlocked cockpit of the flights. After 9/11 The cockpit doors were made very strong and explosion proof. Pilots started keeping the cockpit door locked during the entire flight time. Even then there were instances where the hijackers entered the cockpit by making the pilot open the cockpit door. Type 2 Hijack  happens by bl...

He was a powerful leader with conviction of Anti-Semitism (Racial discrimination), greed for an absolute power. He was an adamant and powerful ruler who never questioned himself nor ...

Escape from the prison of cognition

We work, plan and act for ourselves and for our families. In each and every moment of our life, we are busy thinking, planning, interpreting and evaluating (Cognition). Most of us are entangled in our cognition to the extent that it became a prison. Our struggle for fulfillment in life is actually a struggle to escape from the "prison of cognition". Five rats  were living with their mother in a forest. One day the rats came across a small house in the forest. The rats felt that they would get something exciting to eat inside that house. The mother rat warned them that it would be dangerous and they might get killed if they were noticed by the owners of the house. However, the five daughter rats insisted to get into the house. Then the mother rat said “If you had decided to go, I cannot stop you. However, I will give four rules which you should follow to come out of the house safely".   ΓΌ       We work, plan and act for ourselves and for our fami...

Is thought a utility or an obstacle?

Is thought a utility or an obstacle? •        We believe we always gain something or other because of our ability to think. Thoughts help us in getting our works done, expressing ourselves, getting our social status, earning money and properties, building self-esteem and many more. However, if the thought traffic in our brain is high and without any recess. It leads to mental exhaustion and insanity. The thought which is a necessity in family, intellectual, social, financial, emotional fronts is an obstacle in spiritual front •        There were three thieves who robbed a treasury. They were being chased by police and were in search of a place to hide the wealth. They came across a tank in a village. They wanted to hide the wealth in that tank. •        The first thief said the water in this tank is clear. Our treasure may be visible to policemen and villagers who may come here tomor...

Does our thought belong to us ?

Does our thought belong to us? •        The source of our thought is nothing but our memory or the modification of our memory (the imagination). Memory is nothing but a residual impression in the mind created by an external event. Neurologically memory involves a chemical change in the nerve endings of the brain. Memory is just like a footprint in the soil. Every event in this world passes away but our brains hold the memories of the event just like the soil holds the impressions of the feet even after the subject walks away. •        Who is the generator of the footprint, Is it the soil or the subject who walks on the soil? It is the subject. In the same way who is the generator of our memories and thoughts? It is the external world and events happening in it. Footprints don't come to the soil from within the soil. They are not the property of the soil. In the same way, our thoughts are not generated within t...

Cultivating a thought

There was a man who happened to be an alcoholic. He had two sons. The family of that alcoholic man suffered heavily due to the drinking habit of that man. After a few days seeing his father, One of the sons was addicted to alcohol. The other son hated the drinking habit. He established an organization which helped in alcohol  deaddiction.   These two brothers in spite of similar environmental conditions nourished two different thoughts which took them in two different directions. It means before encouraging, nourishing and executing any thought it needs proper discrimination keeping in view of its final outcome. In farming farmers selectively cultivate that plant which finally produces food or give cash after selling them. Let’s call it a “valued plant”. Any other plant which doesn’t fulfill the above criteria when it tends to grow in the farm can be considered as a “weed plant”. The main problem with the “weed plant” is that it destroys the “Valued pla...

Compulsive thinking : Thought and insanity

Do we think ?   or Does our thinking happen ? •        We chew the food and also we digest the food. There is lot of difference in our ability to control both the processes. •          We can make the chewing happen but digestion happens without our conscious involvement and control. •        We cannot say we digested the food. We can only say that the food got digested. In the same way we cannot make our heart beat, we cannot make our blood circulate, we cannot move our intestine. •        Now the question comes . Do we think or Does the thinking happen?     Compulsive thinking :   Thought and insanity •        Most of my stressed out patients when I ask them “why do you think so much?” reply “ I don’t want to think, thoughts just come to my mind”. They say this as if the thinking is a complete ...
