Attachment: The Concentration which got stuck

Once Spiderman went to Himalayas to sharpen his climbing abilities. He was climbing a cliff when he came across an old saint in the jungle. The saint was trying to climb a tree to pick a fruit but his grip was weak and he fell down. The Spiderman laughed at him and said “You have such a poor grip. You need to learn from me”. The saint smiled and said “I am very old to have a firm grip. I bless that your grip should become more strong and firm”. The Spiderman feeling proud looked down the saint and started climbing up the cliff. He felt his grip become stronger. He understood that it was due to the blessing of the saint. By the time he reached the top of the cliff, he found that his grip was so strong that he was unable to release his grip. His hands were glued to cliff and he was unable to separate his hand from the surface he was holding to. He was unable to move forward inspite of his every effort to move. The Spiderman understood having a firm grip will help him hold, but ability to...

Psychic Pain : The energy which lost its way

Psychic Pain: An energy which lost its way. Where is the psychic pain generated from? There was a king named X ruling a kingdom. The kingdom was prosperous and all the people of the kingdom were happy. There was no specific army to protect the kingdom. However, whenever the kingdom was invaded all the people joined together and formed a people’s army to fight the enemies. The army of the kingdom was self sufficient in which each soldier earned his own livelihood in the war free time. There was another king Y ruling the neighbouring kingdom. He wanted to invade the kingdom ruled by X. He maintained a paid army waiting for a right time for invasion. A newly appointed minister by King Y noticed two unique advantages in the opponent King X army. 1)The army was self-sufficient and never got paid by the King (Unlike King Y 's army which caused lot of financial burden on kingdom). 2) The people’s army was very large when compared to paid army and it used to work cohesively. The ...

Pain : The punisher or protector !

Psychic pain is different from the physical pain : A man was living in a village with his dog. One day his neighbour hit the man’s dog with a stick. The man got very angry and had a quarrel with his neighbour. In a heated argument the neighbour hit the man with a chappal. The man felt very much insulted. It was very difficult for him to bear the disgrace. He kept on weeping for weeks. The dog was silently watching the man. The confused dog asked its master “I was hit by the stick and I became alright in a day. You were hit by a soft chappal but your pain appears to be increasing daily even after weeks. Please tell me the reason asked the dog. The man   replied “ He hit my reputation, He hit my self respect, He hit my families name, he hit my credibility, He hit my social status, He hit my good will, He hit my value in the eyes of my future generations.”. The puzzled dog asked “ I saw him hitting only your body when were all these things hurt?"   The experience of the psy...

Attention towards attention

Attention:   Psychologists define attention as a cognitive-behavioral process of maintaining the focus on a particular stimulus neglecting other perceivable stimuli. Division of the attention by the space and time: In my childhood I used to get fascinated seeing the magnifying glass burning a piece of paper when kept beneath the sun. One day I competed with my friend for burning a dot on the paper in shortest time. We made 2 dots on the paper close to each other, Point A and B. I selected point A and my friend selected point B. I was unable to keep hand holding the lens still. When my hand moved near or distant from the paper the area of the focus widened and point B also came into the focus. when my hand moved sideways the focus shifted between point A and point B. The heating of the point A was ineffective and I lost the bet.   I slowly understood that, for the Point A to be burned effectively, point B should not share the space or time dedicated to heat point A. In ot...

Consciousness - The Truth Within

We are all conscious beings. The question is where is our consciousness located? when did our consciousness originate? Manifested consciousness As per the medical science, the diencephalon (a part of the brain) is the seat of human consciousness. Clinicians describe the consciousness as the awareness and ability to respond to external and internal stimuli. The parameters they use to measure the level of the consciousness are eye opening (E), verbal response(V) and motor response (M) [Glasgow coma scale]. It means clinicians take the objective parameters into consideration while assessing the consciousness. Unmanifested consciousness: A newborn doesn’t fulfill the criteria of Glasglow scale to declare itself conscious. However, it's each and every organ responds to changes in its internal and external environment even before the brain starts functioning fully in the mother’s womb. In fact, brain is last organ to develop in the fetus. The consciousness about which the me...

Consciousness – The light of the life

For a biologist consciousness generally means being awake having ability to perceive sensations from the surroundings and within the body. In spiritual dimension consciousness means something beyond this.   Once there was a father and a son. One day they went to the fields during the night. The father gave a lantern to his son and he took another one for himself. They both went in two different directions. By the time they returned, the father’s lantern was still bright but the son’s lantern was dull . The son put all the efforts to keep his lantern bright ,but no use. This repeated daily. Then the son asked the father “Why is this daily happening to me? What needs to be done? Then the father gave five tips   for better illumination of the lamp. 1 Put quality oil in the lamp – the quality of the oil decides the quality of flame. 2 If the glass is left loose , it will be smoked 3 Be vigilant about what you use to shine the glass, it may cause scratches an...

Motivation:The cause behind the effect

A man was sitting restless and disheartened at his home remembering his boss, who didn’t promote him. He made every effort to calm his mind by having tranquilizers, and by pouring out his frustration infront of his friends. Meanwhile the repeated whistle of the pressure cooker in the kitchen irritated him. He shouted at his 5-year-old son asking him to put off the sound. The boy wondered why he was being shouted at by his beloved father. The boy went into kitchen and tapped on the valve of the nozzle. It was quiet for some time. After some time, the pressure increased in the cooker and it again started whistling. He tapped it once again and it was quite for sometime again. This happened repeatedly. Then the boy applied pressure with his hand. He felt the pressure is mounting up inside the pressure cooker. He understood that the lid may blow off any time if he continues to put pressure on the nozzle.   Then he started searching for alternatives. In that process he found out the c...
